No kidding. I usually drive down to Philly for a game in October for my bday. I think this might be the year I finally witness a Flyers vs. Penguins game in person |

Only a few days, but then we'd all be saying October can't come here soon enough.
Real quick though, who gets the nod game 1? Mason or Nuveirth? |

Mason in my opinion. Unless he has a terrible training camp and display in preseason games. |

Agreed
Who starts game 1 matters very little, who is getting the bulk of the starts down the stretch is what counts.

True, but who gets game 1 could mean who they view gets the most starts. |

Don't care really. I think they have mismanaged Mason in regards to injuries and thus am not as sold that he is the guy long term.
Would prefer Mason though, that puck handling is a real plus. |

I think Mason is the better goalie. If they both play to their potential I think Mason is the guy.

Theres the problem though.. Mason's puck handling skills are among the best in the league, and my favorite thing about having him on our team.. When hes on his game you cant ask for much more from your goalie. However, he hasn't been as consistent as Neuvy who has been solid whenever needed. I am grateful to have both |

Mason has been WAAAAY more consistent, hence why Mason is the starter and Nuevy was signed as a backup for 1.6 million.
I understand you are looking at just last season. But over the course of the time from when Mason signed here, he has been vastly more consistent than Nuevirth was regardless of who he was playing for.

Yeah, Mase is the more consistent starting goalie and it's not even close. Neuvy has started more than 40 games all of once, and that was 6 seasons ago. Mase has started 50+ 6/8 years and 3 in a row with the Flyers. Not to mention Mason is 2nd behind Price the last 3 seasons in even strength save %. Guy has been nothing but consistent in his time here.
I will say though, Mase's excellent puck handling crapped the bed last year for reasons unknown. He could stand to get back on track with that. |

I will attribute it to his various lower body injuries. It seemed to me that actually getting to the puck was what was holding him back. He had less time and was rushed far too often. That is just a theory and not based on any factual knowledge other than we know he had leg issues last season. |
